Sometimes we reach a weight loss plateau, in which it seems that no matter what we do, we can't seem to budge the weight. Typical advice to overcome weight loss plateaus goes along the lines of eating fewer calories, eating more often (sometimes even consuming more calories), or doing more exercise.
What if you have counted calories, upped the exercise, and still the weight won't move? The problem might not be the food in your mouth, it might actually have more to do with the mess in your closet.
Our bodies are the reflection of our inner selves (not just what we put in our selves.) Sometimes the best way to renew our inner selves, is to re-vamp the outer accoutrements that define our lives.
You might not think cleaning a closet can make you lose weight, but when we hold onto the things, people, and activities that don't reflect who we are, or what we cherish and value, then we are constantly seeing ourselves in a mirror of inauthenticity. A jump start to getting un-stuck is to purge the things that are taking up that life-giving energy and excitement that we need to flourish!
Julie Morgenston has written a powerful book called SHED Your Stuff, Change Your Life: A Four-Step Guide to Getting Unstuck, in which she shares a transformative process to release objects and obligations that are weighing you down, in order to give you the freedom to live a lighter, richer life. It's not just about letting things go, it's about discovering who you are and what moves you forward.
Read it. You will be amazed at how good it feels to let go of what you no longer need, including those extra pounds!
